School Performance

Ofsted

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. Inspection supports schools to better understand their strengths and weaknesses, in order to improve performance across the full range of functions. Ofsted plays a valuable role in supporting continuous school improvement.

Our most recent inspection took place on Thursday 24th January 2019. This was the first short inspection since our previous inspection in 2014. We are delighted that we continue to be judged a ‘good’ school and the many positive aspects of our school that are highlighted in the report. Parents are keen to see how we are performing in relation to other schools.

The Department for Education (DfE) Performance Tables provide a reliable and accessible source of comparative information on pupil attainment and progress, absence, workforce and finance. The Performance Tables include percentages of achievement in reading, writing and maths and the percentage of expected progress in each subject.  Find the School Performance Tables by clicking the link below:

Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle

Catholic schools, as part of the mission of the Church, are challenged by the gospel to affirm their pupils’ basic goodness, to promote their dignity and to develop their gifts to the full.
The purpose of Section 48 inspection is to assist the school in its continuing work of self-evaluation through the identification of particular strengths, of areas requiring further improvement, and of progress made since the last inspection. Inspections evaluate the provision and standards achieved in curriculum Religious Education, along with the broad Catholic life and worship of the school. We were delighted to be judged as outstanding in our most recent inspection and by the many positive comments that celebrate the wonderful work going on in our school.

Music Development Plan

The National Plan for Music Education sets out the government’s vision to enable all children and young people in England to:

  • Learn to sing, play an instrument and create music together
  • Have the opportunity to progress their musical interests and talents, including professionally.

The plan sets out how schools will achieve this vision, emphasising the importance of partnerships between education settings, music hubs, music organisations working with young people and the music industry.

Every school is required to publish a Music Development Plan, setting out how they meet the Government’s vision for music education.
